Or, "wie es eigtentlich gewesen" (how it properly/really was) to use von
Ranke's 19C historicist formulation. Or, the "Ding an sich" (thing in
itself), to use Kant's epistemic-ontological one. Not that any construct is
identical to wie es eigentlich gewesen, but some maybe are less flawed and
imperfect (more inclusive, more accurate) than others, and perhaps not
coincidentally more functional in various ways. Hence, veritism as (not
completely attainable) goal, rather than unsustainably claimed attainment.
What would "Weasel-veritism" look like in German?
