I know nothing of the atmosphere of the list

When I talk my accent reflects and refracts everybody else's
My accent also alters according to how much TV I watch, as well as what I watch
And I always wonder whether music influences it, too

In dialogue I invariably feel guilty and stupid about being, in the context, 
too flippant/frivolous or too serious; too colloquial or too academic; too 
orthodox or too forward; too juvenile or too staid; too wierd or too 
conventional; too traditional or too avant-garde; too uncompromising or too 
compromising...

I am always on the outside, listening in...in any culture/community...multi-
articulated, manifold-incoherent...
