Well, I called the Blackboard rep and am having a demo 3/1, but having visited
the web site, it strikes me that they are much more a curriculum management
thing -- its a huge site. I felt like I had enrolled in Virtualy University.
Paul, I checked out the Adobe Acrobat site and it seems to do exactly what I
want it to do -- they even use all the right vocabular -- 'sticky note,'
'annotate,' ''circle, underline, hightlight' etc. Why and I not surprised,
Paul that I'm taking silicon instruction from you again?!? My question is
this: the way they describe Acrobat makes it sound as though you have a pdf
file that gets sent around (by email) to various people/commentators, each of
whom has Adobe Acrobat and therefore can annotate the document. Rather than it
being passed around serially, is it possible for the file to be resident
somewhere and each person go to that site to view the document (for instance
using a browser) and make annotations to that file 'residentially.' For
example, if I were to have the text file on my computer and have it shared on
the network neighborhood, would it be possible for someone to 'come into' my
computer, view and work on the file, save it, and then 'leave.? Would it be
possible for someone to use the Acrobat program that is resident on my computer
to do all this if I had it 'shared.'?

Ciao,
reg
