Dr Koenigsberg
I am not sure of the purpose of the quotes listed here ref immunity, but
they unashamedly assume that all 'foreign invasion' with reference to
sovereign nations is necessarily harmful. Indeed, the very terminology
'foreign invasion' is itself a highly emotive manner in which to describe
anything from, for example, one North Korean asylum seeker to 25 Indian bus
workers in the mid 20th C UK etc, etc.
Moreover, the analogy does not hold, even if one were able to argue
coherently that all (personal) bodily foreign invasions were necessarily not
a good thing. Do you mean to suggest that the apparatus of the body politic
involved in 'defending' against any kind of 'foreign invasion' helps to make
the sovereign state stronger insofar as it can learn how to deal with the
next, similar invasion in the same way? This is a very shaky standpoint if
it is the one you imply here and i do not believe you would be so
disingenious, please enlighten as to the purpose of the posting to which I
have replied.

Weiner, M. A. in MAXIMUM IMMUNITY.

"Your immune system is programmed to take care of the day-to-day job
of protecting you against foreign invaders. Imagine that you body is a
sovereign nation--a complete, separate organism. What prevents your body,
the host country, from becoming a Petri dish for every kind of bacterium
&virus? That is the job of your immune system. It is the immune system
that protects you from attack by foreign &internal agents, that plans
defensive actions, and that provides the necessary personnel &equipment."

Lennart Nilsson in THE BODY VICTORIOUS:

"The organization of the human immune system is reminiscent of
military defense, with regard to both weapon technology and strategy. Our
internal army has at its disposal swift, highly mobile regiments, shock
troops, snipers, and tanks. We have soldier cells which, on contact with the
enemy, at once start producing homing missiles whose accuracy is
overwhelming. Our defense system also boasts ammunition which pierces and
bursts bacteria."

Melanie Klein (interpreted by Ogden):

"Biological processes are mirrored in activities of the mind called
unconscious phantasies. Phantasy is the psychic representation of one's
biology. Mental phenomena have physiologic substrates."

Lacan:

"The unconscious is structured like a language."

Koenigsberg:

"Language is structured like the unconscious."
