Hey All, Several of the contributors to the book proposal I am putting together, which was originally to be called "The Postanarchism Reader: Writings at the Intersection of Anarchism and Poststructuralism" have stated that while they are sympathetic to the subject of the interplay between the two, they dont like the term postanarchism as they dont want to get labeled as such, which allows for simplistic dismissals. I too have my reservations about this term as it seems that no matter what, even when it is explicitly stated that like Laclau and Mouffe say about post-Marxism, that it does not mean a wholesale rejection of anarchism as such but rather something more eclectic in that it is both POSTanarchist and postANARCHIST, that even still, people only hear the latter of the two. So I was hoping that people would be interested in helping me brainstorm for a better title that would not be subject to this problem - so far the best I have come up with is: "Theory and Anarchy: Writings at the Intersection of Anarchist Political Thought and Contemporary Critical Theory" I also thought of: "Eternal Return: The Anarchism of Critical Theory and the Critical Theory of Anarchism" The thing is that I want the title to not be limited to poststructuralism but to also allow for postcolonialism, phenomenology, existentialism, the Frankfurt School, etc. so I think the term "theory" or "critical theory" covers all of these better than "poststructuralism". I also want it to be clear that the discussion is not about how poststructuralism in particular is "better" than anarchism as some have taken it, but rather that the mutual penetration of contemporary critical theory and anarchism can be a positive development for both. How can this be expressed in a title? Any ideas? Jason ===="“Marx says, revolutions are the locomotives of world history. But perhaps it is really totally different. Perhaps revolutions are the grasp by the human race traveling in this train for the emergency brake.” - Walter Benjamin __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
