Date: Wed, 03 Mar 2004 21:08:24 -0500 Subject: [postanarchism] Rough draft: "Between Epistemological Dada and Pure Anarchy" From: Edward Owaki <snarkthebold-AT-hotmail.com> ³Between Epistemological Dada and Pure Anarchy: Hatta Shûzô, Paul Feyerabend and A Unified Critique of Science [very, very, very rough draft]² By Edward Owaki http://www.geocities.com/thenetophobe/feyerabend-shuzo.pdf ABSTRACT: Paul Feyerabend¹s Against Method (1975), his famous call for ³epistemological anarchism,² criticizes social anarchism, especially Kropotkin, for its scientism. However, it appears that a Japanese anarchist, Hatta Shûzô, had already formed a similar critique of science in 1927; [more work here] While the author is unable to prove actual similarity between these critiques, this paper is intended to draw this parallel as something to look into further. ATTENTION CONSERVATION NOTICE: Horribly incomplete, as author reads much faster than he writes; interesting but pure speculation; said speculation utterly impossible to confirm without Hatta Shûzô¹s actual works; said works are inaccessible and untranslated; might not be "post-" something, Paul Feyerabend aside; all but a satire of anything resembling academic standards. == This is a work still underway; I'd rather not post the text in this email, largely because newer versions are forthcoming in short order. As it is, though, I've lost too much sleep on this already, and I'd rather it be read in draft form than fizzle out. (To whomever it concerns: please don't post this on Infoshop. Yet, anyways.) Feedback, rebuttals, or whatever are more than welcome. -- "The human gaze has a power of conferring value on things; but it makes them cost more too.² -Ludwig Wittgenstein
