No my reply was certainly not directed at you, I knew
that graeber wrote it and I also know that there are a
few schools like maybe new school, where foucault's
ideas enjoy some prestige but my point was that in
terms of specific academic disciplines it is certainly
not the "reigning ideology", unless you mean strictly
amongst those of us who are on the "left" - in my
discipline for instance, political science, as I said,
there is absolutely no question about it, it is
positivist, scientistic, neoliberalistic, capitalistic
'rational choice theory' that is the reigning
ideology, while the most radical, anti-state,
anti-capitalist work is being done by the
'foucauldians'...

uhm . . . jason, i think you misread david's reply to
your review as
having come from me - but at the same time Im pretty
sure you know where I
go to school, or probably do since I told you when we
met in amsterdam.
kneeejerk foucaut-ianism runs prety rampant at the new
school - but that's
to be expected.
