(when's craig baldwin's new movie coming out?) ... > what is there to celebrate in rock music? can we celebrate all those elements that are held onto in the "post-rock" of late 90's u.s. maple albums? (a band who claimed to be "rock" when interviewed in the CHICAGO READER?) have you read whats-his-face's piece in the BAFFLER (circa '98) in which he goes thru the death of rock from punk to hardcore to pussy galore ... to tortoise? the bit about pussy galore is great. (i just dug up CORPSE LOVE last week and haven't been able to get it out of my ears. (they kill the stones, & the debris still makes for great segues on pirate radio tapes.) ... lookin' like a jew, - emcee je voudrais "eventually a type of surgery is performed."
