> has anyone seen the film "rock my religion" by dan graham

no, but i've seen an excerpt of another tape of his which is
on the video data bank compilation SURVEYING THE FIRST DECADE
http://www.vdb.org/smackn.acgi$artistdetail?GRAHAMD

yeah, video art used to be a focus of mine. some of that old
shit is really boring (bruce nauman). i like miranda july's
work, oh, and the halflifers too! i'd usually rather see a
film. (when's craig baldwin's new movie coming out?)

> what is there to celebrate in rock music?

can we celebrate
all those elements that are held onto
in the "post-rock" of late 90's u.s. maple
albums? (a band who claimed to be "rock"
when interviewed in the CHICAGO READER?)

have you read whats-his-face's piece in
the BAFFLER (circa '98) in which he goes
thru the death of rock from punk to hardcore
to pussy galore ... to tortoise? the
bit about pussy galore is great. (i just
dug up CORPSE LOVE last week and haven't
been able to get it out of my ears.
(they kill the stones, & the debris
still makes for great segues on
pirate radio tapes.)
