located in vilnius, if you have the time and desire to check it out - is
the center for stateless cultures, which is run out of vilnius university
(www.statelesscultures.lt). it's somewhat difficult to tell from their
webpage if they're still functioning at the moment (hasn't been updated
recently) - but they seem to be doing some interesting work

I've recently become fascinated with my family's history which is rooted
in the village of kumecai, lithuania - and manages to link the beginning
of the lithuanian nationalist movement (started in rural pennsylvania)
with what I suspect were some less than friendly family arguments,
disownings, and the like (not to mention the development on lithuanian
nationalism follows an almost text-book like version of benedict anderon's
description of imagined communities)

so i'd be interested in hearing what you find there - what people are
working on, and that sort of jazz - if you would be so kind as to write
something about what goes on there
