From: textured-AT-riseup.net Date: Fri, 3 Sep 2004 16:05:09 -0700 Subject: [postanarchism] Re: strategic essentialism good points. id like to add that the theory of 'strategic essentialism' also has a precursor in deleuze and guattari. in fact i think that all the aspects of spivaks theory are already present, with a lot more subtelty and fewer problems, in the anti-oedipus (to which i recall spivak giving a partial acknowledgement but sans quotation or mcuh commentary -- to the effect of 'yeah maybe i/we shoud reread that book'). i think that d+g avoid the problems you mentioned like the split between theory and practice, the 'object' of critique, etc. one encounters the same issues with 'ideology critique'. i could try to explicate d+gs sidestepping of the problems of essentialism and ideology but yall seem to think its spam. ha. -daniel. ps - have any of you seen the new zizek edited lenin collection? the first half is lenin and the second half is zizeks commentary, which of coarse might be as on-topic as his other books that are supposed to be 'about' a particular subject. but anyway i am gonna start reading it today and would love to discuss. =it takes two to cogito.
