                        JOURNAL ANNOUNCEMENT: 
                            "AFRICAN PHILOSOPHY"


We are pleased to announce a new journal: AFRICAN PHILOSOPHY. 
This journal aims to promote scholarly research and teaching of 
philosophy from the point of view of African and African-Diaspora 
experience and traditions. An additional aim is to consolidate and 
promote inter-cultural dialogue with other traditions of 
philosophical thought. The journal will strive to publish high 
quality work from a variety of philosophical traditions within 
African/a philosophy. The editorial team is headed by V.Y. Mudimbe, 
Emmanuel C. Eze and John Pittman. The publisher is Carfax of Oxford, 
UK. 

An announcement concerning the format of submissions will be issued
 shortly. At this point we wish to gauge the interest in this 
project. If you are interested in receiving subscription information 
when it is available, please contact Bruce Janz at the address listed 
below. In addition, if you know of libraries that might be interested 
in carrying this journal, please write the same address with this 
information. The more information you can provide, the better - if 
you have a name of an acquisitions librarian for philosophy, African 
Studies, or other relevant area, please let us know. As well, any 
other questions about the journal can be sent to the same address.

Feel free to distribute this notice on any relevant list or to any 
potentially interested person. We will keep a list of interested 
respondents, who will receive updates and information on the journal.
