I must admit i was a bit confused to see this thread of angst about the list
here. This list has been one of the most important for me--despite the barfy
protestations of class-room activism that pop up now and then. Plus I believe
the "charter" for the Iist suggests that the types of issues that have come
up here are precisely what the listowners intended. Surely there must be room
for the "i'm teaching a course on...please suggest texts posts AND the gut
wrenching angst-ridden political posts also. (I am of course guilty of the
latter form w/ "my is massa dead" post for ex.) I am on several other lists
and none of them compare to this one for the opportunity to actually learn
and debat stuff. Perhaps peter, u should not remain so silent.

PS. I know I owe several people a response to the "inviolable
self-post-postcolonial" thread...but avoiding ones disseration is a demanding
task...will respond soon.
