CALL FOR PAPERS ANNOUNCEMENT:

Professor Amritjit Singh (English, Rhode Island College, Providence, RI
02908) and Professor Peter Schmidt (English, Swarthmore College,
Swarthmore, PA 19081) are co-editing a volume of critical essays entitled
_Postcolonialism and American Ethnicity_.  The collection aims to draw
critical attention to intersections between postcolonial discourse and
American ethnic studies of literature.  The editors are interested in
papers that show theoretical linkages and influences, consider the work of
postcolonials who are now American ethnics (Bharati Mukherjee, Gayatri
Spivak, Meena Alexander, Paule Marshall, Jamaica Kincaid, etc.), and do
postcolonial readings of American ethnic texts.  Please send 2-3 page 
proposals to Singh and Schmidt (addresses above).
