Subject: The Nation of Hawai'i


FYI: The leader of the Nation of Hawai'i, one of several sovereignty groups 
in Hawai'i, is being held without bail by the federal government. This is 
a continuation of the type of acts which led to the overthrown of the 
Hawaiian monarchy 100 years ago.

So many on this list are Americans; so many have little awareness that 
Hawaiians are struggling to regain part or all of their country. The 
jailing of Kanahele is likely to be a turning point--for now the American 
government seems to have begun to react with open violence to a 
self-consciously non-violent movement.
