There may be a simpler explanation to the phenomenon of lack of
response to Australian messages -- there is a lack of response to
most messages. I have noticed myself, and several people who I've
talked to have confirmed, that messages (or at least, issues) often
vanish into the ether, with only private responses if any at all.
This is true not only of this group, but of others. It may be more
noticed when it is an issue that you have raised. And, familiarity
with conditions is a factor -- one or two postings cannot make up for
local media attention. The internet holds the illusion of world-wide
exposure, but it takes more than putting an issue in front of someone
for them to be able to fit it into their existing way of
understanding the world.
