In response to your feelings about the anthropology association and in line
with my wish to discuss postcolonial books.  Have you read THE BEAUTYFUL ONES
ARE NOT YET BORN by Ayi Kwei Armah? It asks just what it takes to survive
(and in this book it may well me something different than in the LWFC movie).
 The suggestion is clearly what you stated about deceit and dishonesty, add
corruption and decay and you find a powerful book with a setting in Ghana.
