Subject: Australia, Dickens, and John Edward Eyre

Chris, Thanks for an informative posting on Dickens in Australia. As for
Edward John Eyre as inspiration for Voss, I checked my source, and what it
actually says--without documentation or further discussion--is "The
intensity of the experience recorded in Eyre's journals gave Patrick White
the impetus to write the novel _Voss_" (Geoffrey Dutton, _The Hero as
Murderer: The Life of Edward John Eyre_ 15).
