Can one ignore the world in which we find ourselves?  Does not our thrownness
preclude such an ignorance?  
Isn't the challenge to know and transvalue?  I would very much like to hear
more about how one might "ignore" the culture with which one finds him or
herself in contact.  I think Said's work demonstrates the mutual malleability
of cultures in contact...
