Subject: New Book! _Sociological Thought: Beyond Eurocentric Discourse_

I thought that members of this newsgroup might be interested in the
  following new book:

   	   _Sociological Thought: Beyond Eurocentric Theory_>
   			 edited by Nahla Abdo

   ISBN 1-55130-0063-X

     			************************

_Sociological Thought: Beyond Eurocentric Thoery_ is designed to provide
students of sociology with an alternative vision of social theory. In an
exciting and orginal introduction to the book, the editor provides an
innovative critique of the Eurocentric and male-oriented nature of
conventional sociological textbooks, and provides us with a new approach
to understanding the field. The horizons of sociological theory are
expanded by the inclusion of Rosa Luxembourg and a chapter by the
fourteenth century Arab/North African scholar Ibn Khaldun.

Nahla Abdo teaches in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at
Carleton University. Born in Isreal and now a Canadian citizen, she is
also author of _Family, Women and Social Change in the Middle East: The
   Palestinian Case_.
