colonialist languages with about as much bearing on Palestine as French has
had.
=09Keep yer eyes peeled for _Arabesques_ (_Arabeskot_ when it was first
published [in Hebrew]) by Anton Shammas (a Palestinian Christian)--and for
any of the odd essays he's published here and there. He's got much to say,
and all of it smart, on the linguistic situation in whatever one would like
to call that section of the Mediterranean coast.
