For Starters....

As a white male commited to identifying and reversing cultural
practices which reinscribe white supremacist capitalist patriarchy
(please see _talking back_ by bell hooks) , I
have found that much of the oppressive attitudes/practices are intimately
linked to western notions of the powerful/dominating male. Therefore,
while much of the foolishness that goes on under the title "masculine
studies" is merely "containable apolitical (white-boy) shit," there are
those who are making the larger conections between how men are
conditioned to think/act/love and global political systems which deny
marginalized communities subjecthood according to parallel conditioning
(susan bordo's _Reading the Male Body_).

I would respectful suggest that you familiarize yourself with
subject matter before you trash work which many other politicaly active
people find useful and appropriate.
