Blocks discussion?   Based on  the number, length, and passion of posts
here lately, I'd say, on the contrary,  Julian's intervention has actually
opened up the discussion.  Which tells me, a group needs occassional
controversy  to break the long monotony  and to avoid falling into a kind
of feel-good group psychology.

(I am a lurker in this list.  Okay, back to lurking again.)
