A couple of questions: > >1. Does anyone have experiences with teaching any of the major >writings? What works well and what doesn't? > >2. Are there any recommendations for women writers, besides of course >Isabel Allende (who he doesn't like that much)? =0D Bruce, yes, I do. I have taught Latin American fiction a few times, in different places, for different reasons. Is this a regular undergraduate class? Are they going to read the works in English translations or Spanish originals? That makes a big difference because not everything is available in translation. Is your colleague interested in contemporary writers or earlier or last century or what? I can recommend many books, women and men, if you just give me a little more information on what you or your colleague want. I don't like Isabel Allende that much either but I have taught her work because students like it and because you can't avoid her or ignore her. Let me know what you are looking for and I'll help you. =0D Beatriz Badikian Chicago --PART.BOUNDARY.0.22479.emout08.mail.aol.com.833344272-- --- from list postcolonial-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
