Subject: Hate groups on the Net: reply Date: Mon, 2 Sep 1996 09:33:27 -0000 i wrote > I believe that these Hate Group people are just as pornographic as > those dealing with purely sexual matters. you replied eh? pornographic as in "explicit description or exhibition of sexual activity in literature, films, etc. intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic feelings"? and i respond by mentioning that postings to Hate Groups mix and integrate the ethnic, economic, social, political, erotic and sexual in a way that postmodernists would indicate as a 'breaking down of boundaries'. Some of the headers to these messages alone proclaim their pornographic content boldly. Hate Group postings are, if you like, theoretical whereas the tragedies in Rwanda, Yugoslavia and elsewhere are the practical results of Hate Politics. Please check out previous articles in _Observer_ and _Guardian_ newspapers dealing with the torture of prisoners in the former Yugoslavia, for example. There the torturers focused on the sexual organs with male prisoners being forced to bite off the penises of other prisoners. This was for the gratification of the guards. Mass rape (of both sexes) is a feature of Hate Politics. Indeed videos were made showing sexual torture. Again please check out recent reports in the press and by Amnesty International. Zizek and others in his school, have written about the politics of exclusion and 'fear of the theft of our enjoyment' and i highly recomend his texts for a Lacanian or postLacanian analysis of the sadism run amok in areas of so-called 'ethnic conflict' which the Hate Groups feed upon and promote.
