Subject: Re: Response to Styles post Andrew's "Faulkian" quote

Hi Andrew
thanks for the clarification. There seem to be 2 distinct referents to
this word "majority" then: list majority and, for Tina, electoral role
majority. Tina, from all her accounts, would identify and place herself
within the majority of voters who gave the current govt in Australia a
massive win in the house of reps [and, again, not the senate].And, as Cath
and Jon pointed out in the first 2 posts around this discussion, that
majority rule - which does not make statements in isolation - in the house
of reps is one of concern, particulary as they throw up policy that is
racist, anti-feminist, anti-education, anti-social services, return to age of
menzies sort of stuff.

Still, and to be a bit pedantic, perhaps, it is difficult, as the liine
has shown, to know what/who the majority are on this list: there are,
after all, 500 subscribers (?), many of whom, including myself, are
lurkers most of the time.

Excuse my amnesia [?], but what was my "'liberal studies 101' [?]
explanation of tolerance and diversity"?

Ned
