Hi, Stephane, You probably know of Tahar Ben Jelloun's _La plus haute des solitudes_? I find your topic fascinating, and would appreciate seeing some of the texts you are working on. Also, have you thought of linking this "regard medical" to the male gaze? I am thinking here of Malek Alloula's _Le harem colonial_ and Ben Jelloun's _Les yeux baisses_.
