Subject: RE: migrant literature

Hi, all!
What an interesting subject!
Let me add to previous suggestions the following ones:

Salih Tayeb., Mawsim al-Higra ila-sh-shamal: it has been translated into
Italian, the English title could be something like "The season to migrate
to the North", it is a male account of a return migration to Sudan but it
is extremely interesting to see how concepts of movement and gender are
linked.

Kureishi, Hanif, The Buddha of Suburbs, Faber and Faber, 1990

>From a perspective that combines cultural anthropology, life histories and
literature I think these books are interesting:

Lee Barnes V. and Boddy Janice, Aman A Story of a Somali Girl
Ghosh, Amitav, In an Antique Land

Hope this helps ;-)
