do you know simi bedford's fictionalized memoir
YORUBA GIRL DANCING?
it comes in a penguin paperback -- isbn 0-14-023293-1
a book about a six-year-old nigerian girl sent
to english schools just after ww2 --
the narrative follows her to about the age of 20

because the book is written in english, set in england,
and authored by an african, she could be said to
be "black english"

the bio reads, "Simi Bedford, born in Africa, was
a model and now writes for television and film.
she has 3 children and lives in london."

it is a brilliant book and i can't imagine a better
way to teach poco theory.
