What I would definitely add to this list is Anne McClintock's "Angel of
Progress: Pitfalls of the term postcolonial" ...it was in the same issue
of Social Text that had Ella Shohat's piece.  And, in my view, most
importantly Stuart Hall's recent discussion of this debate...(he does a
good job critiquing McClintock and others etc) in the book *The
Postcolonial Question*  Edited by Iain Chambers and Lidia Curti, Routledge
1996.  The essay is called "What is the postcolonial: Thinking at the
limit" (or something of the kind....it is an EXCELLENT essay)
