Subject: Arif Dirlik's critique of postcolonialism



Has anyone seen Arif Dirlik's new book, *The Postcolonial Aura*? Any
reactions? Dirlik chastizes postcolonial scholarship on several
grounds, most notably for its methodological individualism and its refusal
to acknowledge the political and social implications of global capitalism.
At a couple of points he dismisses postcolonial scholarship as merely a
discourse reflecting an intra-elite struggle for attention, prominence,
and power in the academic world.
