 In the category of works which do not relate directly to the subject matter,
but are pertinent: Klaus Theweleit's _Male Fantasies_ deals with shit, 
blood et al. en masse. Although it is not a work of postcolonial theory 
(it is a theory of fascism) it has been extremely useful to me.
