Guadeloupe is a department (=county) of France. That is to say it is as
much part of France as Paris, Morbihan, Doubs, Nord, or Seine-et-Loire. 
This has nothing to do with the question of whether or not it should be
an independent state, any more than the fact that Hawaii is a state of
the US might raise the question of whether 'state' is 'PC for colony.'

If you cannot tell the difference between a local government authority
and a colony, territory, or possession, then perhaps you ought to learn.
