Subject: M.A. in National and International Literatures in English

I would like to bring your attention to a new MA degree to be held at the
University of London from September 1998:

M.A. in National and International Literatures in English, Centre for
English Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London. From
September 1998 the NILE MA, a new initiative by the University of London
will examine both the history and contemporary development of
new/national literatures as well as provide theoretical perspectives in
the area of postcolonial studies. The core course adopts a historical
and cross-cultural methodology set with a full awareness of contemporary
theoretical issues. Options are broad and will be taught by a range of
teachers from across all the colleges at the Unviersity. There is
unrivalled library provision with the University of London Library,
relevant college and institute collections, the British Library,
Commonwealth Institute and other London research collections. The course
will also benefit from the interuniversity postcolonial seminar series
which invites both international writers and critics to read and give
papers. The MA is open to full and part-time students.
