AUSTRALIAN STUDIES, the journal of the British Australian Studies
Association (BASA), is undergoing radical and exciting changes. Its editors
are pleased to announce the recent signing of a contract with Frank Cass
Ltd, who will now produce and distribute the journal on behalf of BASA.

Henceforth, AUSTRALIAN STUDIES appears twice-yearly (Summer and Winter)
with publication alternating between themed and general issues. Themed
issues
are based on the interests of particular editors, or generated by the
proceedings of BASA's biennial conferences. Scholarly contributions to both
general and themed issues are welcomed. AUSTRALIAN STUDIES will also carry
a substantial review section offering a regular survey of new material in
the field of Australian Studies.

The most recent issue (12.1) is the first to be published and distributed
by Frank Cass.

CALL FOR PAPERS

AUSTRALIAN STUDIES invites scholarly contributions covering any aspect of
Australian Studies. Since the journal has an interdisciplinary focus, and
aims to foster innovative critical and empirical approaches,
cross-disciplinary, theoretically/methodologically challenging, and
comparative work is particularly welcome. Past issues have included papers
from scholars working in cultural, geographical, historical, literary,
media, and social studies, and we are committed to further broadening the
scope of the journal to include studies of design, architecture, music,
fashion, law, science and technology.

We accept articles of up to 8,000 words in length. Manuscripts should be
submitted as hard copy (2 copies) and a disk copy should be supplied with
papers saved as plain text files and/or Word files. Contributors should
