The quote is from Chapter One, "De la Violence" (Concerning Violence); the immediate context is the mistaken presumption of 'native' guilt and the resulting 'aggressive . . . muscular tension' . . . which can lead to a "fraternal bloodbath" among colonized peoples or to armed resistance to colonialism.
