The Bellow quotation goes something like . . . "Who is the Tolstoy of the Zulus?
The Proust of the Papuans? . . .  I'd be glad to read them" I think he made it
in reference to the changes in the Western Civilization (It's a good idea)
course requirements at Stanford U. There is a reference available in the NY
Times Magazine from Mar.1, 1988.
