Subject:       Theroux Bashing


Wasn't it about two years ago that Theroux published another nasty 
whining piece ("a long unrequited love-hatred song") about Naipaul 
supposedly arriving for dinner drunk and behaving badly? (Does 
the New Yorker pay for this stuff?) After that one Naipaul would have 
been kindness itself to have spoken to Theroux again--he probably got 
rid of the signed copies himself (rather than his wife tossing them, 
as someone suggested). What the latest article lacked in fellow 
feeling it supplied in self-love. BTW, this isn't gossip, is it?
