From: "Stephen DeGiulio" <DEGIULIO-AT-nmsua.nmsu.edu> Date: Wed, 12 Aug 1998 19:21:01 MDT Subject: Theroux Bashing Wasn't it about two years ago that Theroux published another nasty whining piece ("a long unrequited love-hatred song") about Naipaul supposedly arriving for dinner drunk and behaving badly? (Does the New Yorker pay for this stuff?) After that one Naipaul would have been kindness itself to have spoken to Theroux again--he probably got rid of the signed copies himself (rather than his wife tossing them, as someone suggested). What the latest article lacked in fellow feeling it supplied in self-love. BTW, this isn't gossip, is it?
