Perhaps of greater concern (to me, anyway) is the pedagogical issue. i know that my students (who are suspicious of testimonio narratives and postcolonial perspectives generally) are going to snap this up.  This article leads to a whole new set of interventions that has to be made on behalf of Menchu's text.  i'd rather (as i alluded in an earlier message) not have to do that kind of poststructural theorizing and focus in on the political implications of the text. 

Students who want their prejudices validated have new ammunition, sadly... and i hate that kind of a firefight.
