Cristi,

You've probably already run accross _Imperial Eyes_ in your research.  I'm
not sure how much Pratt's discussion hinges on the European gaze being
specifically male, though most of her examples are of male travellers.
There's a new journal on travel literature-- about a year old I think--
that you might find interesting. Does anyone remember the title?
