It might seem as though everyone on this list has the typical "knee-jerk
liberal" reaction but I think there is a "reasoned" way of looking at it.
Assuming that everyone on this list is "anti-imperialist" (how many scare
quotes can I use?) we have to judge what imperialism means. Presumably
"police action" around the world has imperialist tendencies. Can it ever
be justified by the immoral acts of a leader (no, not Bill and Monica)?
Presumably yes (accepting Nazi Germany might be taking anti-imperialism a
bit far) but when? I think refusing inspection of nuclear facilities
doesn't justify bombing. I don't know how many non-Canadians have heard of
this but recently our government behaved immorally in its response to
legal demonstrations at the APEC conference. I just hope the Americans
don't send the missiles.
