Subject: Single travellers -- Literature


Hello all, 

Can anyone recommend a couple of first-hand travel narratives of single
(or small-group) travellers written in the last 10 or 15 years. African or
Arctic Narratives preferably, I'm hoping to find longer journeys (3+
months) to compare with Samuel Hearne and Mungo Park. Although I am not
specifically looking for "problematic" texts, I am also not seeking to
avoid them...
Any suggestions would be appreciated,
