Dear Professor Desai:

If your proposed panel on PoCo studies is still open, I will be happy to
participate in it. As you might remember, I organized a PoCo conference in India
last month, which was attended by scholars from the United States, UK,
Australia, Japan, Srilanka, as well as India, and we had some very interesting
papers. The 1999 conference is scheduled at the University of Goa (Dec 16-18).

Personally, I am interested in Naipaul's work, and have written the piece on him
for the DLB (vol 204) coming out this spring. I am at work now on a book-length
work on him. Let me know how I might help you with the panel. --sura rath

Dear Colleagues,

I am planning on putting together a special session at the annual
Conference of the Rocky Mountain MLA which meets this year in Santa Fe,
New Mexico. (October 14-16th 1999). The topic of the panel is "Reassessing
Postcolonial Studies" and I am interested in papers that frankly assess
the contribution that Postcolonial studies has or has not made,
particularly though not exclusively in the institutional spaces of the
U.S. academy. I already have commitments from two speakers and am looking
for two additional speakers. If you might be interested in presenting on
the panel, please email me privately at gaurav-AT-mailhost.tcs.tulane.edu

Please note that RMMLA does require all participants to be or
become members in any given year in which they appear on the Convention
Program. For further information on the RMMLA as well as on the
conference, please visit them at http://www.rmmla.wsu.edu

Best
