Subject: Re: colonialism and environmental degradation

Check out Amilcar Cabral. His graduate studies in agronomy (Lisbon) led him
to the conclusion that topsoil erosion in Guine-Bissau was but the tip of the
iceberg of the environmental effects from colonial exploitation. He went on
to lead the armed struggle against the Portuguese in Guine-Bissau and is
considered by some one of Africa's brightest stars.

Hope this helps.
