i think this is a touchy question for middle class academics and
intellectuals especially progressive-minded ones, because it is really
about class and class interest of academiccs,  and how heavily  class
interests shape academics and academia. how can can 250,000 a yr salary not
change the way one sees and relates to the world. this one of the biggest
contradiction in poco studies. i speak as a non-academic working class
intellectual who make a 10th of what Butler makes and don't have time to
wade thru academese  bull crap to get a better understanding of
imperialism.  bob brown
