an interesting book, that does not fall exactly into the category of travel
writing is Roland Barthes "The Empire of Signs a book he has written after
his first visit to Japan, and is an attempt to "read" a culture and report
his own vision , images
and nterpretations of "japan" and "japanese culture" through his experience
as a first-time tourist to this country.
