Hello Shikha,

I recommend the book:

America is in the Heart by Carlos Bulosan

It is the autobiography of a Filipino immigrant, first published in 1946.
Well-written and a quick read. Very informative, expressive and indicative
of the Filipino Immigrant perspective.

Also, for writing culture:

Dangerous Crossroads by George Lipsitz

Good luck, and happy holidays!

Hello folks,

I'm designing a class that would represent the different worlds of American
immigrant writing. This would be a graduate level course with a
cross-disciplinary approach. Any suggestions on text, technique, etc., would
be most appreciated.

I had requested similar info on a creative writing class on 'writing
culture,' several months ago, which unfortunately got deleted when my
computer crashed. Any suggestions on that would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Best,
Shikha
