Pretty well all listserves have slowed down over the years and while
Azfar's posting would have been "normal" a few years ago, and Wolf
factory's flame would have been just as normal, we seem to have lost that
energy and dismissive anger. I was thinking of this as I read Marlene's
last posting. It made me realize that over time I have become very
comfortable with her ellipsis. At the beginning, a part of me used to say
"Complete sentences, for pity's sake!" but I realized this was limited and
reductive and so I learned to read "Marleneemailspeak." On the other hand,
my immediate response to Azfar's was:a pleasant, erudite, political
response piece, and not abstruse, of the sort found in the better lefty
magazines, rather than specialist journals. And thus for me it was not a
problem in any sense. Actually, it was a delight: something to chew over
like the "good olddays" of a few years ago.
Back to counting my grey hairs...
