From: "Iris Lavell" <ilavell-AT-central.murdoch.edu.au> Subject: Re: Fanon Date: Thu, 20 Jan 2000 17:14:26 +0800 There's an article by David Macey in Radical Philosophy 95 May/June 1999 called "Fanon, phenomenology and race" in which Macey talks about "the unfortunate decision to translate the title of Chapter 5 as 'The Fact of Blackness' and not as 'The Lived Experience of the Black Man'" He says, "Indeed the point of Fanon's exercise in socio-diagnostics is to demonstrate that there is no 'fact' of blackness (or, by the same criterion, whiteness); both are a from of live experience.." etc Also there's a book titled The Fact of Blackness put out by Bay Press 1996 and edited by Alan Read. Includes a heap of good stuff by some famous people. Someone else might have mentioned it already. Cheers!
