I also thought Kristeva was a bit romantic about her notion of the
"foreigner." Seems to me she collapses diverse situations under which
one finds onself in another country into one romantic package that
privileges her own (rather privileged) situation as the norm. In all this
talk about migration, perhaps we should also remember that the majority of
such "border crosses" do not occur from North to South but within the
continent of Africa? Joe
