Subject: postcolonial Latin American lit

I am look for some suggestions of a postcolonial LA piece of fiction that
I can use in my freshman seminar. I have been using Manlio Argueta's One
Day of Life, and may, indeed, continue with it. But I am open to
suggestions on something more recent. Since this is for first-year
students in their first quarter -- and it is a writing intensive course --
I want to limit the length of the piece to about 200 pages or so.

Many thanks for your help.

Kathy Smith
